Are you interested in solar and innovation? Would you like to discuss innovative technologies, the challenges of our time and opportunities with representatives of the European Commission, Province of North Brabant, SolarPower Europe as well as the solar value chain ecosystem of North Brabant?
Then we would like to invite you to join the Brabant Solar Day 2021, which will take place on Friday, 3rd of December 2021 at the High Tech Campus in Eindhoven (NL). You can choose whether you would like to participate in this event in person in Eindhoven or online. If you participate in this event in person, please keep in mind that you must show a valid QR-code in the Corona Check-App (or printed) upon arrival.

Extra COVID-19 Measures will be taken into account during this event. These measures include: COVID-19 Pass (QR-code) ad ID required, wearing a face mask unless seated, keep a distance of 1.5 m, fewer in-person tickets available due to COVID-19 restrictions, hygiene measures, seated lunch etc.
Talk Show Brabant Solar Day
A diverse programme with exciting speakers, interviews and more in a hybrid Talk Show (11:00-12:00 CET). Presenter Ingelou Stol will take the viewers and visitors along three panels, discussing Solar in the context of public policy, developments in R&D and production and recycling. Guests will be welcomed by Martijn van Gruijthuijsen, Vice governor for Economic Affairs, Knowledge and Talent Development, Province of North Brabant.
Talk 1: Policy and societal perspective
International climate ambitions and societal challenges as the energy transition require concrete, fast and effective actions. Talk 1 will focus on an analysis of the situation and opportunities. Furthermore, we will discuss how to strengthen/ get back the European solar industry.
Link to European policy: EU Green Deal, European climate and renewable energy targets and policy such as Fit for 55 and Renewable Energy Directive, EU Strategy for a Sustainable Built Environment (related to the European Circular Economy Action Plan and in the recent industrial strategy for Europe), etc.
Talk 2: Product development and R&D
Talk 2 will focus on R&D aspects, production technology development and stakeholders in the market as e.g. OEMs, etc. We will also address how innovations such as perovskite-based solar cells and thin-film photovoltaic laminates can contribute to further strengthening of the position of European and Brabant companies in the solar supply chain.
Talk 3: Application and recycling
How do innovative technologies get to the market? Can mass customisation meet the requirements of customers, possibly change the market, and help to create jobs and new opportunities? How can the building sector profit from innovation in this field? How can solar influence the mobility sector? Which role does recycling play in a circular economy and how does this work for solar panels in the Netherlands? Table 3 aims to answer these and other questions.

Guided tours
In the afternoon, Guided Tours are organised to SolarBEAT, at the TU/e Campus, and to the TNO laboratories in the Solliance Building at the High Tech Campus. Travel to TU/e Campus and back will be arranged. You can sign up in the registration form. We need to know the exact number of participants for practical reasons and COVID-19 related restrictions.
